PETITION FILLED TO RAISE AGE BAR FOR SMOKING, AND BAN OF LOOSE CIGRATTES

The petition also requested that smoking area spaces to be removed from business areas and airports, as well as a ban on the sale of cigarettes near academic institutions, health clinics, and religious sites. Advocates Shubham Awasthi and Sapta Rishi Mishra filed the petition, which sought, among many other things, a rise in the smoking age from 18 to 21, the abolishment of designated smoking zones from commercial areas and airport terminals, a banning upon that sale of loose cigarettes, as well as a prohibition on the demand for cigarettes near schools and universities, health authorities, and religious sites. The complainants also demanded that the punishment for smoking in public places be increased.
